When the 160GB PS3 comes out, will the 40GB PS3 drop in price?

I ask this because I thought that I may as well just buy the 40GB and update the hard drive.

So can anyone confirm if the 40GB will drop in price when the 160GB comes out? Or will the 40GB be discontinued? Also, my warranty will definitely not be voided by sticking in a new hard drive?

the 40gb is discontinued… the only one being sold right now is the 80gb which is exactly the same as the 40gb but double the memory… and the 80gb won’t drop in price… it’s already $400… i haven’t really heard anything about a 160gb one but if it comes out it would most likely be $500.

    you should see both 80GB and 40 GB drop in price, not drastically but still drop.

    who knows they might even discontinue 40 GB after a while. like they did the 20, and the 60.

    The 40GB is already discontinued. The only version out right now is the $399 80GB. The 160 will be sold for $100 more. They will not have a price drop.

    You can upgrade your hard drive. A 160GB one is about $65-70. Also you have to do it yourself, with the risk of messing up your PS3. I’ve heard the 160GB will be bundled with a game, Uncharted, so you might as well get that one.
